Brunch is a very popular weekend activity in the city of Toronto. The typical brunch options include your go-to eggs benedict and pancakes dishes, so it’s rare for restaurants to be able to successfully put a spin on brunch. It’s even more rare for restaurants to successfully pull off southern BBQ style brunch, but The Carbon Bar is definitely able to pull it off. A highlight of the brunch menu at The Carbon Bar includes their version of Chicken & Waffles. The chicken is deep fried with buttermilk to give it a perfect crunchy exterior, while retaining very juicy innards. The citrus crema does aRead More →

The Pint

Hailing all the way from Edmonton, The Pint has opened up shop in Toronto with their newest location situated merely steps away from the Rogers Centre. Replacing the previous tenant Baton Rouge, The Pint is a massive restaurant and sports bar that houses more than 700 seats and an outdoor patio as well! We were fortunate enough to be invited to their media event, to sample a bit of their food and drinks. Their menu boasts over 40 flavors of chicken wings, and also has 40 different draughts available. However, due to it being a media event, we were unable to sample all of theirRead More →

Antler Kitchen & Bar

Antler is a game-focused kitchen and bar, specializing in local wild & foraged ingredients, and it all comes together into a seasonal menu. We were recently invited to Antler to try out a selection of their new late night menu items.   The first item we tried on the menu was the Charcuterie & Cheese board – a selection of meats and cheese curated and made in-house by Antler. We were greatly surprised at the quality of both the meats and cheese, and the fact that it came in such large abundance was a surprise due to the fantastic price point as well! We definitelyRead More →

Good Catch Lobster

If you’re looking for a great spot to catch some seafood and watch the game, look no more! Good Catch Boil House is a new Louisiana-inspired seafood restaurant and sports bar located in the heart of Markham conveniently located at 179 Enterprise Blvd. Traditionally, seafood boil restaurants only serve seafood boiled in plastic bags with the occasional dishes on the side such as fries, chicken wings and fried rice.  Good Catch Boil however does not only serve the traditional seafood boiled in plastic bags, but also includes a very refreshing twist to the menu. Our first impression when we entered was how spacious the restaurant was. There wereRead More →

Cactus Club Cafe originates from Vancouver and has locations all over British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Led by Iron Chef champion Rob Feenie, the menu items are globally inspired, with a focus on using fresh and sustainable ingredients . Working in downtown Toronto, I’ve walked by the Bay and Adelaide almost daily and have noticed the construction at this spot for almost a year. It doesn’t surprise me now that construction took that long; the space is absolutely beautiful and well thought out. The Toronto flagship restaurant is located in First Canadian Place and occupies over 15,200 square feet and boasts three distinct dining conceptsRead More →

Korean fusion is all the hype these days and Han Ba Tang is one place that does it well. Han Ba Tang, meaning “one full round” in Korean, seems like a small and inconspicuous restaurant from the outside, but is full of character on the inside. The restaurant decor is unique and has a relaxed feel, where you can sit and enjoy drinks and snacks for hours. We were introduced to Chae, the owner of the restaurant who was super sweet and welcoming. Chae had a vision to open a restaurant that showcases authentic Korean food with beautiful presentation, especially to those who haven’t triedRead More →
